The 12 Trials of My Patience tells the story of a self-absorbed jerk who videotapes his "good Samaritan quest" to win back a disgruntled girlfriend.

Herc (Maronzio Vance), the “jerk,” constantly puts his wants and needs before everyone else’s, including Karen, his more-than-patient girlfriend. Karen reaches her boiling point when Herc forgets her birthday… again. After Karen announces that she has had enough of her boyfriend’s narcissistic ways and threatens to toss his stuff out on the lawn, Herc goes on a self imposed “journey of good will” to prove to Karen he is not the jerk she says he is.

Easier said then done. Throughout the day, Herc's patience is tested as he meets an array of quirky characters who teach him that the universe does not revolve around him. Documenting his journey is Thurman, Herc’s crass, amateur filmmaking buddy. Thurman has a way of giving sage advice as he rambles on in tangents, leading the pair from one crazy situation into another. As the sun sets, Herc's mission becomes harder as he encounters a mix of unusual characters from an over-zealous boot camp instructor to a superhuman meth head.

Inspired by the Greek mythos, “The 12 Trials of Hercules,” this screenplay is a light-hearted, coming of age story that takes a modern look at man’s continuous struggle with life’s challenges.
